A closer look at our suites
We truly are a Cattery with extra large pens . Every suite has been named, inspired by the Lincolnshire Wolds countryside. We furnish each suite according to our individual guest and what their owner has told us about him/her, their preferences, temperament and habits. Each suite has a large run, and from there, access to the bedroom through either a regular door, a small cat door at ground level, or a regular cat flap via gentle steps up. There is always choice of comfortable beds and places to relax; some high, some at floor level, some covered, some not. For physical activity and stimulation, there are several climbing places, a range of toys and puzzles, windows with views to the front and back of the cattery, and lots of time for individual attention from us.

Meet Kitten: our very first guest!

Kitten is an eight year old female and she belongs to a friend of ours. She stayed with us (on an informal basis) for one week, whilst her mum was on holiday.

Our friend was unsure about how Kitten would react to living in a cattery. She had previously always been staying at home alone, with a neighbour or friend popping in to feed her, when her mum had been away. But her mum wanted Kitten to have more company and to be safe and properly looked after.

Described as a somewhat timid cat, kitten was not particularly comfortable with unfamiliar humans visiting. When she arrived at our cattery, understandably, she first headed for the nearest dark place of safety; a covered den at floor level. We spent some time settling her and her things in together (wisely, mum had brought Kitten's favourite blanket from home), before mum said goodbye and left. The first day, we spent quite a lot of time in and around Kitten's pen, and we quickly built up enough of a relationship with her for her to come out of her den and to allow us to stroke her. Lots of patience, gentle chatting and some tasty morsels helped! In just a day, Kitten's confidence had grown enough for her to begin to explore her pen, and her bedroom. She quickly learnt to use both the steps up and the ladder leading to different high resting places. Soon, she had settled into our routines around her, and she was clearly looking forward to the times of the day specifically reserved for cuddles, play and treats. She particularly loved sitting in her bed by the bedroom window looking out over the field with the horses, and wild birds coming to feed right by her window. But we also sometimes caught her darting fro and to on the floor of the run in wild pursuit of a little ball.

It was an absolute pleasure, and a privilege, taking care of Kitten. Her mum was very happy with how it all went (see their testimony below), and Kitten has already been booked in for her next holiday!

Kitten's review (her mum helped her write it):

I am a very shy cat, and I was scared, when I knew, I was going to a cattery for the first time. Tina asked every question that is possible about me: age, meds, routines, phobias/things that startle me, food, treats, history, favourite toys. But my mum asked the most important question of all; could I bring my blanket?

"Of course!",  said Tina.

When we arrived Tina welcomed us both so kindly, but it was clear that I was the priority, and I immediately felt more at ease. Into the pen we went….. I just remember how big it was , and then that lovely shelf that became my favourite place, where I could watch the horses in the paddock at the back. -And also spent a lot of time looking out onto the chickens at the front.

My mum really struggled leaving me. She often says in amazement, "how can you love an animal…’me’… as much as a human?".  Tina and Claire clocked this and made my mum feel safe in leaving me. Truth be told, I had a great time and a bonus: I have gained more confidence! I can now integrate much better with other humans at home. Also,  IVE STARTED GOING OUT….LIKE TO NEXT DOOR'S GARDEN….BOOM!

I look forward to my next stay. Such calm and tranquillity.

The best cattery in Lincolnshire .
