Terms and Conditions

Payment

  • Payment includes the day of arrival and the day of departure, as well as a set up fee, charged per pen per visit. We provide food, litter and treats as specified by our guests, as well as beds/bedding and a range of toys.

  • A non-refundable deposit of 50% is requested upon reservation. This will secure the booking.

  • The remaining settlement payment must be paid at the latest 7 days prior to arrival. It may be paid earlier, or at the same time as the payment of the deposit, if more convenient.

  • A cancellation, or a change of booking, made earlier than 7 days before the planned arrival date, will result in no further charge, or, if the settlement payment has been made early, that will be refunded.

  • A cancellation, or a change of booking, made within 7 days of the planned arrival date, will be charged at 100% of the invoiced amount.

  • In the months October to May (inclusive), when we operate an electricity surcharge, this charge will be refunded in case of a cancellation, regardless of the time of notice.

  • If a booking is made 10 or fewer days before arrival, then payment for the full amount is required immediately. In case of a subsequent cancellation, none of the payment is refundable.

  • If collection is delayed by a day, an additional day's fee will be charged.

  • If collection is made early, then no refund is given.

  • We offer a 10% discount to owners whose cat stays with us over 6 weeks.

  • In the case of indefinite long-term stays, we request an up-front payment equivalent to 8 weeks' stay. Subsequent payments will be charged every 4 weeks (so the first, regular payment will be due at the end of the 4th week). Between 1st April and 30th September, we require 4 weeks' notice of collection.

  • Should we discover that a guest has worms or fleas, then we will treat the cat following consultation with the vet. Costs of the product will be settled directly with the vet. Our costs (milage and time) will be charged to the customer upon collection.

  • In case of any medical emergency -or condition arising, a guest will either be taken to the vet, or we will call a vet out, depending upon the nature of the issue. We are registered with James Street Veterinary Practice in Louth, but are happy to consult your regular vet, provided your vet is happy to charge your account directly in your absence, and the practice is within a distance of 20 miles of Wolds Retreat. Our costs (milage and time) will be charged to the customer upon collection.

  • Administration of medication is included in the daily fee.

  • If a guest is not collected within 14 days of the agreed collection date, and the owner has not been in touch to set up a new agreement, then we are sadly forced to take measures to rehome the cat. Payment will be pursued for the extra days that the cat has stayed with us.

  • We prefer bank transfers as payments. However, card and cash payments are accepted in person. An invoice will be issued, and you will receive an acknowledgement of your payments. Formal receipts can be issued upon request.

Health

  • The owner must ensure that their cat's vaccinations against Feline Infectious Enteritis and Upper Respiratory Tract Infections are up to date, and the vaccination book/card to this effect must be brought along for the stay. This will be returned upon collection.

  • It is important that we have been informed of any health/medical issues or concerns, before a cat's stay with us. We like to furnish the pen and allocate the time needed to meet any such requirement.

  • If medication is to be administered, the owner must bring sufficient supplies to cover the length of the stay, along with precise administration details. Any agreement to administer medication, whether in tablet form, injections or for example tending a dressing, is entirely at the owner's own risk.

  • No cat, suspected of suffering from an infectious or contagious disease, can be accepted into the cattery.

  • Male cats over the age of 7 months must have been neutered.

  • In case of any infectious or contagious disease being suspected or diagnosed, our guest will be moved to our isolation pen.

  • Wolds Retreat, unless the owner has specifically made a request to the contrary, reserves the right to administer medication/complementary treatment on the advice of a vet or, in less serious/acute cases, in order to ease light and temporary conditions. This, for example, could be in the case of stress (KalmAid or VetsUK Bladder Support), or in case of minor injuries such as scratches (Chlorhexidine and medical grade Manuka Honey).

Safety & Security

Wolds Retreat has been constructed, designed and it is run entirely with the welfare, safety and security of our visiting guests in mind. Pens have been kitted out to allow cats to live, play and relax in a safe environment. Every pen, walls, furniture, toys etc. is rigorously cleaned and sanitised between visitors, and they are meticulously kept clean during a guest's stay. The separate cattery kitchen is set up for best practice in respect of hygiene. Guests are kept under close observation by two responsible, experienced and trained adults. Daily records are made of behaviours, eating patterns and litter tray visits. If we make observations that are of concern, we will not hesitate to contact a vet. The cattery is positioned next to our residential property and is directly overlooked from our windows. It is fitted with a central electric smoke detector, as well as battery operated smoke alarms. The building is alarmed and overlooked by CCTV cameras at every angle and entry point.

  • Whilst we take every precaution possible to keep our guests safe and secure, Wolds Retreat can not be held responsible in case of accidents or events that are reasonably beyond our control.

  • Customers must agree that their cat's stay with us is entirely at the owner's own risk
